Apple’s new iPad; love it or hate it!

Apple released iPad, one their much anticipated product in Jan 27th. Since then several online sources and publications have commented on the iPad and expressed their disappointment. Aside from the Apple haters who bash every apple product, most people were expecting to see a better and more functional device.

In my opinion, Apple rushed this product and should have waited to release the iPad with more features & functionality so that it could potentially work as a Laptop/portable Multimedia device. The current version of iPad is nothing but enlarged and glorified version of the iPod Touch and it was rushed to the market to keep up with recent surge of e-Readers. Apple has also added a new iBook section to allow e-books to be purchased online. The main advantage of the iPad over Kindle is the touch screen feature.

The iPad could potentially someday revolutionize the Gadget market. I see the upcoming version of iPad will be Multitasking and would function like a notebook. If Apple really wants to impress, they could add the iPhone functionality to it as well.

I was particularly disappointed once I learned that iPad doesn’t offer a USB input and all files need to be synced through the USB adaptor and the iTunes. There is no Ethernet input slot either which means if you don’t have wireless connection at home you’re pretty much screwed.

Internet browsing sure will be much more convenient as you can view the sites and articles in a larger screen but given the fact Flash is not supported in this device, it will leave you with static site browsing.

The iPad WiFi Model is priced well and it will be available starting from $499.99 in a couple of months. It’s going to be interesting to see how this product will play out in the market but I’m sure other less flashy competitors will release similar devices with things that iPad isn’t equipped to offer.
